When my father left, I remember thinking this was just another time for him to walk out and come back in two weeks. l was wrong. He moved to Iowa that very day, the day after Christmas, and never came back. Since then, he has moved to California , and then to Ohio . The North Carolina Child Support System enabled my mother to keep up with him, and to receive her child support checks every month. The check literally keeps my brother and sister alive, because it helps my mother afford their medications. My brother has epilepsy and without child support there would be no way to fund hospital visits to monitor his condition. My sister has severe acid reflux (GERD) and has been to several different specialists. My mother works extremely hard, but without child support my family would not be able to make ~ F ends meet. I have worked very hard throughout school to try to be the first in my family to graduate high school and go to college. Child Support Enforcement helped ensure consistent payments that made it possible for me to not have to work a large number of hours each week to try to help with monthly bills. Thanks to Child Support Enforcement I have had the opportunity to be ambitious and strive for excellence in my school. I am graduating in the top five percent of my class and will begin college in the fall.
